I primed them black because I wanted the panel lines to show up really well. I then dry brushed the whole ship silver, sorta like it just came out of the factory. I then dry brushed white to improve the color I was going to add. The main color was then dry brushed on and some highlights were added to some of the ships. I added a few dots of different colors here and there and finally painted the canopies gold, kind of like a stealth fighter look.
The flight stands are standard plastic flight stands, glued to a steel washer. The washer does a great job of lowering the center of gravity. Add to that the light weight of the plastic fig and it very hard to knock these things over with a table bump.
Overall I'm happy with the results.
I could have spent more time on them, but my buddy kept reminding me these are going to be playing pieces and I shouldn't go overboard.
He's got some metal minis for the same game ordered and I've painted a few of the metal ships in the past. The metal minis seem to look a little better, but I think that's fairly true when comparing metal and plastic minis.
All that's left are a couple of coats of clear coat and shot of dull coat and they'll be defending the space lanes by Thursday.
I think he's chomping at the bit to use them in a game and I think they'll do just fine.

You have done a great paint job on these. Keep up the good work!
A very good job painting them. Well done! Can you tell me what figures they are and what company makes them?
Hmmmm.....I'll have to check into that for you, I'm not reallly sure who makes the models.
I know Silent Death is made by Iron Crown Enterprises (ICE)and the old OOP metal versions were made by Rafim, but I'm not sure about the plastic versions.
I painted them for my buddy and we'll be gaming this weekend, I'll ask him and see what I can find.
Thanks for the positive comment, I'm hopping to have some more stuff up soon (inc. more ships).
Did a bit of looking around the net and found the ships. They are from Nexus and are called XXX Century Starships. Think I'll try to find some here in Aus
Graeme I think your right.
And thanks for doing the searching, my buddy just got a bunch of metal Silent Death ships and he doesn't like them at all. They are much smaller then the plastic versions and he was extremely happy to find he could buy more of the plastic ships.
I'm sure I'll be painting those too....
